About
Green is a part of everyday for us. We see it as a fun adventure by which to experience the journey of modern life. We didn’t give two thoughts to whether or not we’d green our wedding. We both knew that the wedding would simply be another stage of this adventure.
We have taken a fine tooth comb to every element of the modern wedding and questioned how we could make that element greener while still meeting our goals and desires.
As a disclaimer, we are not sacrificing the dream that we have both held for our wedding in terms of style and size in the name of green. Is that not in and of itself hypocritical? It depends on how you look at it. Yes, a small, simple affair is greener than a large, complex affair simply because such an event consumes fewer resources. That is not us. For those who seek such a wedding, many resources are out there. (insert links)
Meeting the problem where it is, not where you want it to be.
People will continue to have big weddings. Sean and I knew from day 1 we’d be in that category. I am from a small southern town. We both have big families. We are older so we have larger social networks. And we both love to entertain. To us, there’s nothing better than a big party with those you love.
The resources on how to green your large, formal wedding are few and far between for people in our category. Luckily, Emily Anderson tackled this world of green weddings in her book Eco-Chic Weddings. This has been my bible for planning but we’ve also found opportunities to go beyond what’s covered in the book.
GoGreeninStyle Wedding Edition
We hope that this website will be a resource for all brides but especially brides seeking a large, formal high style, traditional wedding. We are opening up what we are doing and how we are doing it.
We hope it challenges the norm while making it easier for others to reach their goals.
